About Peacock Acres
Our Story...
In 1979, Nancy and Gene Edgin had just bought and moved into their new home. Quickly they realized they had more room than they could ever use, a family decision was made to share their home with foster youth until those treasured youth could return home to their families.
Nancy and Gene understood that foster youth longed to return to their families after healing has taken place. They knew that some foster youth only needed a temporary home where they felt a belonging, had purpose and were a part of something genuine. The Edgins’ decided early on that each youth that resided in their care would be raised and treated as they were their own.
In 1992, the family was devastated by the loss of Gene Edgin to cancer. Together, Nancy and Ernest agreed to continue the great work that she and Gene had begun. Ernest Howard remained as the Executive Director until late July of 2021.
In Mid July, Peacock Acres announced the appointment of Shaniz Beza as its new Chief Executive Officer. Shaniz, who has been an employee of the organization for the past 3 years, brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Peacock Acres would like to announce that Shaniz Beza has stepped into the position of Executive Director mid-July of 2021!
Shaniz Beza has been an integral part of our team for four years and has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and expertise.
Previously as the TAY Program Manager, Shaniz rebuilt the program and has seen youth successfully graduate / transition into their next chapters in life. In addition Shaniz with the help of her new team were able to expand and serve additional youth, including piloting a program. Their exceptional performance and commitment to our organization have earned them this well-deserved promotion.
As we continue to grow and evolve, it is crucial that we recognize and invest in our top talent. Shaniz’s promotion is a testament to our commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and promoting from within whenever possible.
As our organization continues to grow and evolve, we recognize the need to adapt to the changing landscape and stay ahead of the curve. To that end, we will be implementing several changes that will help us to better serve our youth and position ourselves for future success.
The changes will include a change in the entire management team for all departments, new goals and visions for our organization. In addition to updating and evolving with the new era and the waves of things. We believe that these changes will enable us to be more agile, responsive, and client-focused, and to position ourselves as leaders in our industry.
We understand that change can be challenging, however, we are committed to serving our youth and community.
We are excited about these changes and the opportunities they will bring, and we look forward to your continued contributions and support as we move forward.
Our Mission...
Peacock Acres provides supportive housing, intensive case management, and life coaching for foster children and young adults who have been separated from their families. With high character and resolve, our youth are steered towards opportunities for healing and growth as they continue their journey toward a fulfilling, productive life.
